Now Viewing: uehara_ankoTag type: Character A brown haired teen girl from Great Teacher Onizuka. She is part of a trio of teen girls who like bullying Yoshikawa Noboru who is too timid to fight back or expose their treatment of him. Their bullying is vicious and involves physical and verbal abuse and Yoshikawa often ends up stripped to his underwear, bruised and in tears. Anko and her friends are the daughters of wealthy Parent Teacher Association members who are unaware of their children's behavior and will crack down on anyone who harms them. This becomes a major problem for Onizuka once he decides to help Yoshikawa deal with them. Yoshikawa becomes so distraught over his situation that he is driven to suicide but Onizuka rescues and befriends him. Onizuka helps out Yoshikawa by humiliating Anko and her friends by stripping them down to their bra and panties, spanking them, taking pictures of them, and leaving the camera with the pictures to Yoshikawa, telling him that he can do whatever he wants with the camera. Yoshikawa decides to not further humiliate Anko and her friends and leaves the camera with them, but Anko uses this as evidence to discredit Onizuka in front of the PTA members. Onizuka is saved when Yoshikawa and Kikuchi expose Anko's bullying. After this, Anko is humbled enough by the experience that she does not openly antagonize Onizuka again although she still dislikes him. Anko resents her mother because of her mother's perfectionist expectations and when Anko's bullying is exposed in front of her mother to her mother's horror and disbelief, Anko attacks her mother, but Onizuka stops her and helps her realize that her mother cares about her well-being and mother and daughter reconcile with each other. Although Anko does not like Onizuka, she begins to feel that Miyabi is going too far in her campaigns against Onizuka and eventually defects to Onizuka's side. Even after being humiliated, she still persists in bullying Yoshikawa but her bullying attempts are much less successful than they were before due to Yoshikawa's newfound confidence. Ironically, she begins to fall in love with Yoshikawa after he saves her from almost dying. Anko is amazed at how the boy she had once disdained had become so strong, but she still tries to deny her growing feelings for him. Yoshikawa also develops feelings for Anko as well even though she had viciously bullied him before. Onizuka teams up with his students to help Anko admit her feelings for Yoshikawa. The scheme is successful and Anko becomes a much nicer person after her confession. Her character is combined with Miyabi's in the 1998 live action drama, but Anko appears as a separate character in the 2012 series. The 2012 portrayal of Anko combines her character with Mizuki Nanako. She is voiced by Okamura_Akemi. She is played by Shinkawa Yua in the 2012 series.
