Artist making waves on Twitter
Posted on: 04/24/24 07:43PM

Developing Story:

Loli artist orenji AKA [orenjipiiru / wholesomeorenji] has been making waves the past few days on Twitter (X). The artist has made an illustration of "Anatomy of a Gamer" where their attire is described in detail, and has a smug loli GF standing next to said gamer. In the time of writing this, the illustration has 20 million impressions, 45K likes and 5k reposts (3.5 which are Quote reposts)

The controversy begins with the loli GF is described as "Child GF" in the artists illustration, catching the ire of many antis. Unclear if the Japanese artist had a mistranslation or is intentionally stirring the hornets nest with the wording, but lols have been had.

Edit: Upon digging, one commenter asked said question and Orenji replied, "'loli' would've probably went more smoothly but 'child' has a certain oomph that I think made it funnier"

Through the chaos in the Comments and Quote retweets, a phoenix rose through the embers and a meme format has emerged. Currently carried by other artists often featuring a larger character standing by their smol travel companion. Example: One Punch Man standing next to Tatsumaki. Some of the meme edits have currently made it here to Gelbooru as well.

It's a lot of back and forth in the retweets, but it remains to be seen what fate lies for the Japanese artist. In common practice when a loli artist has brushed upon the attention of the normie limelight, seldom does the artist last. If they don't go private from the waves of harassments and threats, they're usually banned from the mass amounts of reporting.

Within the past 24 Hrs the artist said, "I was worried at first but things are going well and I'm in a great mood now. Even if the mass bot reporting gets me banned, I'll still be in a good mood." in the event that their account gets locked, they've also shared their Baraag, Pixiv and Misskey accounts for those who wish to continue to follow.

For reference, the artist is tagged as orenji_(wholesomeorenji) here in Gelbooru (SFW)

You forgot one of the funniest emergences of the drama. Some crazy idiot named AbstractPurple got mad at the artist, and loli porn was found in his likes. He scrambled to delete them, and deactivated his account. Then he posted a rant on his newgrounds account saying that he didn't remember liking them, and he threatened to kill himself if people kept making fun of him for it.

He came back to twitter with another whiny "i'm not a lolipedo! stop harassing me!" rant, and the rest of twitter is still dunking on him. Better yet, they're doing the whole "you're a lolicon, stop lying to yourself, now join the dark side" which I know must be driving him nuts.

Lol.

Anyway, I strongly dislike pre-pubescent lolicon art, with a large part being it's just so horribly unappealing to look at, so it's honestly difficult to defend the artist too much.

However, I stand by he didn't do anything wrong. The meme was completely harmless and obviously satirical. Overreacting twitter as usual. It's definitely possible the artist gets banned with all the mass reporting bots and the obsessive compulsive, autistic antis forming up to take him down. He just has to survive this current wave of attention, though it is unlikely.

Why is he threatening people with a good time?

I don't believe the artist is Japanese; English is his first language.

Of course he is english. Just because it's anime styled doesn't always mean it's made by Japanese.

That thread was awesome. I got to block and report SO many lowlife artist-harassing psychos.

That's hilarious!! Haven't seen that bit. It's not uncommon for NewGrounds artists to be loli fans. Kinda like the artist Corey Spazkid and Friday Night Funkin' dev Dave (Phantom Arcade) on Oneyplays have been crushing about Medli from Zelda: Wind Waker
