Now Viewing: yuugenmaganTag type: Character YuugenMagan Assumed kanji: 幽玄魔眼 or 幽幻魔眼 Hiragana: ゆうげんまがん A Touhou character. Makai_(Touhou) route stage 10 boss in Highly_Responsive_to_Prayers, a Touhou_(PC-98) game. Like most characters in Highly_Responsive_to_Prayers, YuugenMagan doesn't have official kanji and its name is written in Romanized characters. It is assumed to be written as "幽玄魔眼" or "幽幻魔眼". Generally, Magan (魔眼) indicates the same concept of the "evil eye" (literally magical/demon's eye). If "yuugen" was interpreted as 幽玄, it means "recondite/subtle/profound/etc" or indicates the concept of the traditional Japanese aesthetics similar to that of "elegant" in English. Likely a coincidence, the kanji exists on the theme title "Eternal Dream ~ Mystical Maple" (幽玄の槭樹). 幽幻 is not a legit established term in Japanese, so if it was interpreted as this, it's likely to come from Yuugen Doushi (幽幻道士) (original title 殭屍小子): a horror action comedy movie made in Taiwan starring a Jiang Shi as the heroine. Likely a coincidence, the kanji exists on the theme title "Eastern Record of the Sealing of a Demon ~ A Phantom's Boisterous Dance" (東方封魔録 ~ 幽幻乱舞) YuuganMagan appears as a hovering set of five independently-moving eyes, connected by electricity and surrounded by strange markings. If you look at the center, you can almost see a character in a kimono in the area where YuugenMagan's "energy" meets. It can be suggested that this is its source.
