If I were his friend, I would recommend Naruto to use every dangerous mission as an excuse to sentimentally say goodbye to Sakura, in this intimate manner. She'll find it endearing and get used to the closeness.
Sakura's already warmed up to him, but he needs more to win her over. Something she never had with Sasuke - cute moments, intimacy, care. Courtship. Too bad Jiraya never tought him that.
